Laser Safety
Regular use of Lasers requires people to become familiar with potential hazards. Operational protocol procedures should be developed by each facility based on national guidelines as specified by federal agencies suchs as ASI, ASLMS, OSHA, and FDA. It is important to note that laser recommendations vary from state to state. This is why it is so important to seek out a licensed professional with several years of experience for treatment.
All professional medical clinics offering laser hair removal services should have a “Laser Controlled Area.” A laser controlled treatment area is defined as the room in which the laser is used. This room should be kept sterile and contain the Nominal Hazard Zone. The Nominal Hazard Zone is the space within the treatment room which the level of direct, reflected, or scattered radiation exceeds the level of applicable MPE (Maximum Permissible Exposure.
